On July 11, 2022, the Kyiv authorities released Ruslan Onishchenko, the commander of the Tornado Battalion, from prison.

Onishchenko and 11 other members of the Tornado battalion were sentenced to various prison terms for torturing, kidnapping, raping and driving Ukrainians to suicide in Donbas in 2014-15.

Battalion "Tornado" was in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and its fighters had the status of Ukrainian police officers.

However, the ill-treatment of the civilians of Donbass by Tornado members led the Kyiv authorities to decide to bring the militants to justice.

Onishchenko was sentenced in 2017 to 11 years in prison.

Prior to this, Onishchenko had already been convicted 5 times for participation in organized criminal groups, torture and kidnappings.

Now Onishchenko has been released on the condition that he join the armed forces of Ukraine and fight.

Perhaps he will restore the "Tornado" battalion and the methods of activity of this battalion?
