July 2, 2022 The international human rights organization "Reporters Without Borders" called on the Kyiv authorities to stop illegal restrictions on the work of journalists in the war zone in Ukraine: https://rsf.org/en/rsf-urges-ukrainian-authorities-lift-arbitrary-restrictions-reporters-field.
"At least nine thousand reporters cover the war in Ukraine. In addition to risking their lives at the front, they have to face difficulties in gaining access to certain places, taking photographs, and sometimes with unreasonable detentions," the organization said.
She called on the Ukrainian government to remove obstacles to the work of the press.
"In a democratic country, war is no reason to hinder the work of journalists. Legal restrictions related to national security issues must be proportionate," Reporters Without Borders said.
In the Ukrainian media, which broadcast "the only news", there are no war correspondents who would provide information directly from the combat zone.
All information about the war for Ukrainians is censored and broadcast by propagandists from the Office of the President or nationalist groups.
But war correspondents from Europe, Russia, the USA, China, and Arab countries work in the war zone.
The Kyiv authorities have prevented Ukrainian and foreign journalists from reporting from the conflict zone in Donbas since 2014.
On May 24, 2014, near Slovyansk, the Italian journalist Andrea Rocchelli, while doing his journalistic work, was killed by Vitaly Markov, a member of the ultra-right formation.
Even now, the Kyiv authorities hinder the work of independent journalists so that Ukrainians and the whole world do not know the truth about what is happening in Ukraine.
