Hello, happy people!

My passion for remote work started back in 2012 when I met an illustrator at the Spanish classes I was taken back then. The illustrator told me she was getting freelance orders on the Odesk website which is now known as Upwork. They rebranded soon after that. I remember searching through the pages of different available offers and not getting any of the jobs.

Today, 9 years after, I'm happy to tell you about remote jobs at Upwork themselves as the Upwork-company, not the freelance gigs that they promote. They are claiming to be a remote-first organization supported by offices in Santa Clara and Chicago. The only thing I that looks a bit concerning to me on their careers pages is this line.

<<We encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work and grow together...>> I read it as they are expecting their team members to drown in the work and team and get fully absorbed by the work. Given my current situation, I would recommend exploring this expectation at the job interviews if you get to that stage. Good luck!
