🌍 Wordy Wednesday: Untranslatable Words ✨

English is full of words that capture feelings or situations in a way other languages—including Russian—often can’t translate with a single word. These “untranslatable” gems are excellent for vocabulary expansion and cultural discussion.
This week’s spotlight word: “serendipity” A happy accident… a fortunate discovery you weren’t looking for… the magic of finding something good unexpectedly.
These kinds of words encourage students to think beyond direct translation and explore meaning through examples, context clues, and personal associations.

🧑‍🏫 Classroom activity: Ask your students to explain the meaning of “serendipity” (or another untranslatable English word) and give a real-life example that illustrates it. As a bonus, ask them to identify and explain words from Russian they think are untranslatable.
