Judge Dismisses Child Sex Abuse Indictment Against Actor Timothy Busfield, Citing Prosecutorial Misconduct

A New Mexico judge has thrown out a four-count indictment against actor Timothy Busfield, known for his roles in "The West Wing" and "Field of Dreams."

Judge Joseph Montaño ruled Friday that prosecutors failed to act fairly and impartially during grand jury proceedings. The court found that prosecutors improperly prevented jurors from hearing testimony from witnesses they had specifically requested, undermining the integrity of the indictment.

The allegations involved two young boys who appeared on the television series "The Cleaning Lady." Busfield has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

The dismissal does not prevent prosecutors from seeking a new indictment. The Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office says it is reviewing the ruling and considering its next steps.
