Your Purpose Didn’t Retire
Psalm 92:14
“They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.”
There are seasons when the roles that once gave our days structure begin to change. The children grow up and leave home. Retirement comes. A career ends. Suddenly the house is quieter, the schedule looks different, and the mind can begin asking, “What am I supposed to do now?”
Be careful how you answer that question. When a role ends, it is easy to start believing that your usefulness ended with it. But being a parent, employee, caregiver, or provider was something you did. It was never the complete definition of who you are or everything God can still do through you.
A new season may require a new way of thinking. Instead of focusing only on what is no longer there, begin asking what is possible now. You still have wisdom to share, people to encourage, prayers to pray, relationships to build, and gifts that may have been waiting years for you to finally have the time to use them.
God's purpose for your life does not come with a retirement date. The routine may change and the people who once depended on you may need you differently now, but there is still life ahead to be lived. Do not spend a new season mourning an old assignment so long that you miss the one God may be placing in front of you.
✝️ PRAYER OF THE DAY:
God, help me embrace the season I am in instead of believing my best years are behind me. Renew my thinking, show me where I can still make a difference, and give me courage to discover what You have for me next.
🧠 TODAY’S AFFIRMATION:
My roles may change, but my purpose is not finished.
🔎 QUESTION FOR TODAY:
What new purpose might be waiting for you in the space that a previous season left behind?
