168 Days of Simulated Execution 📊

A strategy can look impressive over a few days. The harder question is how it behaves over months of changing market conditions.

The Reactor Bot Arena gives us a way to observe that over time. The public agent fierce-omega-760 has been running in the sandbox for 168 days, using a Moderate risk profile on simulated Hyperliquid BTC perpetuals.

So far, it has recorded a +112.3% simulated return.

42 participants have also cloned the same parameter setup into their own strategy slots, making it possible to compare how the configuration behaves across different runs.

Everything remains inside the virtual sandbox using paper balances. No live capital is involved.

You can inspect the parameters, run historical backtests or clone the strategy and see how it performs yourself.

Reactor Library: Thinking in Bets 📚

Trading is full of decisions made with incomplete information.

Annie Duke’s Thinking in Bets explores how to make better decisions when you can’t know the outcome in advance.

One of the book’s central ideas is simple: a good decision can still lead to a bad result and a bad decision can sometimes get lucky.

That distinction is especially useful in trading. A profitable trade doesn’t automatically mean the strategy was good, just as a losing trade doesn’t necessarily mean it was wrong.

Instead of judging decisions only by their outcomes, Duke suggests focusing on the quality of the reasoning and the information available at the time.

Instead of manually watching charts, checking conditions and placing every trade yourself, an agent can handle these repetitive tasks automatically.

This is still a developing area, and there are questions about how these agents should be built and what tools they actually need.

Trading Sandbox Competition: What Happens After the Backtest 📊

A backtest can tell you how a strategy would have performed against historical data. It doesn’t necessarily tell you how the same logic will behave as market conditions change.

That’s where the Trading Sandbox Competition adds another layer of testing.

Participants can run their Spot and Perpetual strategies with virtual funds and observe how they behave in a live simulated environment. A strategy that looked consistent in historical data may produce very different results when the market starts moving in another way.

It also makes it possible to compare different trading approaches. A system built around frequent entries will behave very differently from one that waits for a small number of setups. Running both in the same environment gives you a way to evaluate those differences without putting real capital behind them.

Saturday is a good time to experiment with trading logic without putting real capital behind every idea.

When a strategy is tested directly in live markets, it can be difficult to tell whether a drawdown came from the strategy itself or from execution decisions made under pressure. A controlled environment makes those variables easier to isolate.

That’s where the Reactor Bot Arena comes in.

Reactor Academy: Where Does Cross-Chain Liquidity Come From? 🌉

Finding a route between two networks is only part of a cross-chain swap.

The asset you want to buy also needs to be available through liquidity on the destination network

If every token had to maintain its own liquidity on every supported chain, the number of pools and liquidity sources would quickly become difficult to manage.

Reactor is working with Forknet on a different approach: using bridged USDC and USDT liquidity as a common base for supported chains. This gives those chains access to liquidity for buying different assets without requiring a separate liquidity setup for every token on every network.

For the user, the process can stay simple: choose the asset you want to buy, while the underlying infrastructure handles the route between your capital and that asset.

This model applies to cross-chain swaps. Perpetual trading works differently and remains tied to the platform providing the Perp market.

Trading Sandbox Competition Extended 🏆

We're extending the Trading Sandbox Competition through the end of September.

During the competition, we identified several bugs that affected the participant experience. Some of these issues have already been fixed, while our team is continuing to work through the remaining ones.

One of the fixes is already live: agent account creation now supports Ethereum domain signatures, resolving the login issue that some participants encountered.

The extension gives us more time to improve the trading environment while giving participants more time to test Spot and Perpetual trading, experiment with different strategies and explore the updated interface with virtual funds.

If you encounter a bug while participating, please report it to our support team. Reports from real users help us find issues that are difficult to reproduce internally.

Starting a trading bot from an empty configuration can be difficult. You don't always know which parameters are worth testing first or what a reasonable result looks like.

The Reactor Bot Arena gives you a public reference point.

The All-Time Leaderboard currently has fierce-omega-760 at the top, with $4,654.25 in realized PnL and more than $378,000 in trading volume. Other agents are using different configurations and producing very different results.

That makes the leaderboard useful for more than finding out who's in first place. You can study the performance of existing agents, look at their configurations and use an interesting setup as a starting point for your own experiments.

For a weekend read, Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman is still one of the more useful books for anyone who makes decisions under uncertainty.

One idea from the book is particularly relevant to trading: recent results can have a disproportionate influence on how we judge what happens next.

A strategy makes money for a few trades, and suddenly its logic feels obvious.

The same strategy loses a few trades later, and the rules that seemed convincing start looking broken.

Neither conclusion necessarily follows from such a small sample.

This is one reason testing a strategy over a larger set of conditions can be more useful than judging it from the last few trades.
