Dear Client,
The U.S., U.K., E.U., and other governments imposed sanctions on Russia and Belarus in response to the escalating situation in Ukraine. This includes sanctions by the E.U. prohibiting European clearinghouses from processing the sale or transfer of certain euro-denominated transferable securities to Russian or Belarusian nationals or entities located in Russia or Belarus.
In connection with these E.U. sanctions, IBKR previously restricted Russian and Belarusian nationals or residents, and entities located in Russia or Belarus from opening new positions (long or short) in securities trading on E.U. exchanges. In light of the ongoing developments, IBKR will no longer be in a position to support closing trades in any E.U.-denominated products (Stocks, Options, Warrants, Mutual Funds, Futures and Futures Options).
In preparation for this prohibition on all trading by Russian and Belarusian nationals in these products, a margin increase to 100% on affected products is going into effect after the U.S. close on March 24, 2023.
Any account that is margin deficient at that time will be subject to liquidations.
Additionally, regardless of margin compliance, any remaining affected short stock, short call, short put and/or long put position will be subject to a force close-out by IBKR.
Fully paid stock will be transferred from your account U****6566 and held in an escrow account until the sanctions are lifted. You will not have access to the equity from the affected products held in the escrow account, nor will you be able to close or transfer any of the positions that have been moved to escrow.
Regards,
