Hiring backlog/ Pilot surplus

Does anyone know if the regionals still have 8,000 applicants on file for first officer slots? It’s tough out here to get an interview. I’ve been going to hiring expos and emailing recruiters, but it feels like my resume is lost in an endless sea of resumes. I’m wondering if anyone knows whether the recent hiring at the majors has thinned the pool at all. struggling to make ends meet with the cfi life…. but grateful to have a job.
