Vfr into imc question

Reading "The Killing Zone" and I'm into chapter 3 that talks about the things that kill pilots. Vfr into imc is something we've all heard about but I'm curious about flights with multiple people on board. When spatial orientation is lost by the pilot does it cause passengers to lose it as well? I know everyone is physiologically different but will everyone experience that loss of orientation in quick succession? I'm guessing some will never lose it while others can't find which way is level? A pilot manipulating controls to level the plane when disoriented would just disorient others, correct?
