FAA made a NEW medication guide for pilots and ATC
Wanna take Afrin because your nose it stuffy? Do you need to be grounded? Who should you ask?
What about iron for anemia? Is your life over as a pilot? Who should you ask?
Ask the FAA's med guide.
Fresh off the press (as of 10/1/2026): https://www.faa.gov/ame\_guide/medguide
Type in the generic name of your medication (ex. oxymetazolin for Afrin), select Pilot (if you're a pilot), and see if you get a green dot. Green dot means the FAA says this med is fine. And it tells you if you are grounded for x amount of time.
The program is a little bit clunky, but it will evolve over time like many things with the FAA medical division.
