Impending downturn?
Want to start a discussion about what’s to come and how the aviation industry is going to change based on the developments of fuel costs.
I’ve been listening to pundits, some with real knowledge on the matter about the cost of oil and fuel and the processes involved in bringing it to market so I began to look at some data myself, and came across an analysis of fuel costs by IATA. https://www.iata.org/en/publications/economics/fuel-monitor/. Overall the cost of jet fuel has doubled over the past seven months, and once emergency measures to bridge the gap, such as strategic oil storages are depleted, and export bans do their share of international demand destruction and domestic customers are forced to prioritize essential over discretionary spending it seems the writing is on the wall we will all have to buckle down for a wild ride. I hear the trucking industry is already feeling it with 2,000 operators declaring bankruptcy and American is cutting services as well. What’s everyone’s take on all this at the moment?
