Lounge access while JS

Hello, I am a holder of the Venture X card and commute through DFW and DEN regularly on a two leg commute. Capital One has changed their rules and only allow confirmed seats access to their lounge. I have went in a couple times by buying a travel credit refundable confirmed seat on a flight while simultaneously being listed for JS on another and cancelling the confirmed seat once in the lounge. My airline has no rule against using airport lounges and I’m obviously not drinking in there or in uniform. However, I am worried about the potential nonrev/JS implications or Capital One catching wind. I’ve heard rumor that is a regular practice. Does anyone have any experience with this?
