Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, Elbit Systems, is building its first European production center for laser warning systems in Sweden, to be operational in 2027, targeting Swedish, European, and NATO customers. This is the company whose weapons Israel markets as “battle tested” in the genocide in Gaza.

Sweden’s own prime minister, Ulf Kristersson, demanded last year that the EU freeze the trade component of its agreement with Israel, saying “Israel is not fulfilling its most basic obligations” on humanitarian aid, and Sweden urged EU sanctions on Ben Gvir and Smotrich.

Elbit says the facility reflects its commitment to “produce locally.” Stockholm condemns Israel on the world stage, while Israel’s arms giant expands on Swedish soil.
