The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned that recovering and identifying the bodies of Palestinians buried beneath Gaza’s rubble could take years due to severe equipment shortages amid Israel’s restrictions on aid entry, widespread destruction and limited forensic capabilities.

Around 8,000 bodies are estimated to remain trapped beneath the rubble following three years of Israel’s devastating war on Gaza, leaving thousands of Palestinian families waiting to recover, identify and bury their loved ones.
