Millions of tons of solid waste have piled into massive garbage mountains across the Gaza Strip due to the collapse of municipal sanitation services and blocked access to primary landfill following two years of Israeli genocide and devastation.

According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and humanitarian reports, the ongoing genocide and infrastructure destruction have created an unprecedented environmental and public health emergency.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and UNDP report that between 900,000 and 2 million tons of untreated solid waste have accumulated across the enclave.
