An investigation by Liberty Investigates and Al Jazeera revealed that 13 UK universities consulted arms manufacturer BAE Systems on handling student protests against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Participating universities—including Manchester, Sheffield, and Southampton—receive up to £15m from BAE research agreements.
BAE Systems supplies Israel with parts for F-35 fighter jets, which have played a key role in the Israeli military’s destruction of Gaza.
UN Rapporteur Gina Romero warned of a "troubling pattern" of universities taking security cues from weapons firms.
