Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered a powerful show of solidarity with Palestine at the 100th-anniversary celebration of Darussalam Gontor Islamic Boarding School in East Java.

During his address, Prabowo chanted “Free Palestine” three times, with thousands of students, alumni and guests echoing him. Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdalfatah A.K. Alsattari then placed a Palestinian keffiyeh around the president’s neck, and Prabowo continued his speech wearing it.

Prabowo also spoke of Palestinians being “slaughtered, bombed, and continuously attacked,” saying their suffering should drive Indonesia to become strong enough to help oppressed people.
