One of the biggest problems with memecoins has always been PVP.
Everyone wants to find the next runner, but the constant rotation of liquidity and attention often ends up hurting the very coins people are trying to trade.
What PumpFun is experimenting with through Custom Pairs is genuinely interesting.
Instead of fighting speculation, why not build infrastructure that makes speculation work in favor of the main runner?
Imagine being able to trade derivatives of a token without necessarily taking direct exposure to the underlying runner, while the trading activity itself can still generate demand for it.
That's a fundamentally different approach to PVP.
What's equally interesting is the technology behind it. PumpFun says they've developed a way to route swaps involving multiple tokens without users having to pay every associated token fee along the way.
Whether this becomes the solution remains to be seen, but I like the direction.
The team is listening to feedback, acknowledging the problems traders face, and actually experimenting with solutions.
That's how you move the space forward.
