Schule schadet - so Peter Gray

Peter Gray is a research professor at Boston College and author of Free to Learn and *The Harm of Coercive Schooling*. His Psychology Today column has made him one of the most widely read critics of conventional education.
Gray studied the Sudbury Valley School model: no curriculum, no required subjects, no grades, complete student autonomy. Kids decide what, when, how, and with whom they learn. His follow-up research tracking 90% of graduates revealed something remarkable: they became well-adjusted adults in meaningful careers aligned with their passions. About half showed a clear trajectory from childhood play to adult work—because they had time to discover what they actually cared about.
