People in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin have come out in droves to support the resistance
Washington has asked Tel Aviv to approve US military assistance to Palestinian Authority (PA) security services in the occupied West Bank, aimed at bolstering its assault against the resistance in the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, Axios reported on 15 December.
According to the report, which sites Palestinian and US officials, PA President Mahmoud Abbas has ordered his security services to “take control” of the Jenin refugee camp, where resistance factions – most prominently the Jenin Brigade of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement’s Quds Brigades – have a strong presence.
After some of the security officials expressed “reservations” about the anti-resistance operation, Abbas declared that “whoever disobeys his order” would be sacked.
The PA president briefed Washington and advisors of President-elect Donald Trump on the Jenin operation, the report adds.
Axios also reported that US Security Coordinator Mike Fenzel met with PA security chiefs and reviewed their plans before the operation against Jenin camp was launched.

"Discontent against the PA in the West Bank has been growing exponentially in recent years, as Palestinians generally consider the organization a tool Israel uses to further the occupation.
A March 2022 poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip showed that only 27 percent of people were satisfied with the performance of the PA, while “dissatisfaction” was at 70 percent."
