Secretary Of State Blinken Said In A Press Conference In London With His British Counterpart That Eygi’s Killing Was “Unprovoked And Unjustified”. He Added That “No-One Should Be Shot And Killed For Attending A Protest”
Blinken said the IDF needs to make “fundamental changes” in the way they operate in the West Bank including changing the IDF rules of engagement, which determine when soldiers are allowed to use live fire
The Secretary of State said this is the second time an American citizen was killed by the IDF in the West Bank. “It’s unacceptable. It has to change. We will be making it clear to the most senior officials in the Israeli government”, he said
Blinken said that even an initial reading of the IDF inquiry shows “there are serious issues that need to be dealt with and we will insist that they be dealt with”.
