○ Concerns have also been expressed over the potential instability caused by making changes to the military leadership during a time of war.

○ The appointment considered the most controversial is General Shlomi Binder, head of the Operations Division, meant to replace the head of ‘Aman’ the Military Intelligence Directorate Aharon Haliva.

○ Extremist far-right ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich publicly denounced the appointments, they attributed to War Minister Yoav Gallant, claiming that he had no jurisdiction to make new appointments given his culpability in the security failure of 7 October. They also called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to fire Gallant.
