The Venezuelan government informed the UN of its withdrawal from the International Criminal Court, which the US State Department celebrated as a win for its campaign to “dismantle” the court.
■ “The US welcomes the decision by interim President Delcy Rodriguez and Venezuela to withdraw from the ICC and the new Venezuelan government's partnership on American-led efforts to dismantle the corrupt and worthless ICC,” posted the State Department on X. “Thanks to President Trump's leadership and the efforts of brave American service members, Maduro is now facing justice in US court for crimes he has committed. It is time to dismantle the ICC.”
■ On Friday, the ICC ousted prosecutor Karim Khan from the ICC in a secret vote, a major blow to the ICC’s efforts to arrest Israeli occupation leaders on warrants for war crimes.
