Retaliatory Strike Hits Bahrain Desalination Plant After US Attack On Iran’s Qeshm Facility
Iran's IRGC says it will continue to target neighboring countries allowing the US to launch attacks from their territory
Iranian drones targeted a key desalination plant in Bahrain on 8 March, causing material damage, following a similar attack on Iran launched by the US from the tiny Gulf kingdom.
"The Iranian aggression randomly bombs civilian targets and causes material damage to a water desalination plant following an attack by a drone," Bahrain's Interior Ministry claimed in a statement on Sunday.
The Gulf countries allied with the US and Israel rely heavily on a network of 400 desalination plants for drinking water.
Qatar receives nearly 100 percent of its water from such plants, while Kuwait and Bahrain receive some 90 percent, Oman receives 86 percent, and Saudi Arabia receives 70 percent.
Bahrain says an Iranian strike damaged a desalination plant, marking a new phase of the conflict targeting water infrastructure.
Gulf countries rely heavily on desalination.
