🔺 What Makes a Good Boss? 7 Traits and Mistakes To Avoid: Trait #2: Communication clarity

Great leaders make sure they're understood; that's why 71% of employees believe their managers should spend more time explaining goals and plans. That disconnect shows how communication breakdowns persist even in workplaces that appear highly engaged.

Direct reports crave clarity. They want managers who explain the "why" behind the work, set clear expectations, and offer honest feedback without sugarcoating. Clarity doesn't mean overcommunicating; it means being thoughtful, direct, and transparent in a way that supports progress and trust.

Managers who excel in communication make space for dialogue, encourage input, and use every one-on-one as a chance to align and support, not just check boxes.
