All Ph.D. students were like that: thinking they were better than everyone else just because they had the dubious privilege of slaughtering fruit flies in the name of science for ninety cents an hour. In the grim, dark hellscape of academia, graduate students were the lowliest of creatures and therefore had to convince themselves that they were the best.

📚The Love Hypothesis

“You mean you’ve done this before?”
“Done what?”
“Put in expired contacts.”
“Of course. Contacts are not cheap.”
“Neither are eyes.”

📚The Love Hypothesis

“Out of curiosity, is there a specific reason you’re crying in my restroom?”
“I . . . is this the ladies’ restroom?”
“Nope.”

📚The Love Hypothesis

📚The Love Hypothesis

We are dreaming of tomorrow
and tomorrow isn't coming
We are dreaming of a glory that
We don't really want
We are dreaming of a new day
when the new day's here already
We are running from the battle
when it's one that must be fought.

And still we sleep.

We are listening for the calling
but never really heeding
Hoping for the future when the
future's only plans
Dreaming of the wisdom that we
are dodging daily
Praying for a savoir when
salvation's in our hands.

And still we sleep.

And still we sleep
And still we pray
And still we fear

And still we sleep.
