Could someone have manipulated weather data?

This case raises a wild question:
According to Météo-France, a complaint was filed after signs of unauthorized access to a temperature sensor at Charles de Gaulle Airport.

On April 6, the sensor suddenly showed an unexpected spike to 21°C - far outside normal conditions.

Right after that, a freshly created account reportedly made around $14,000 betting on that exact outcome.
