🧭 11 Survival Skills That Could Actually Save Your Life

Whether you're into hiking, off-grid adventures, or just want to be ready for the unexpected… these 11 skills could make all the difference when things go wrong:

1. First Aid
Cuts, burns, stings, sprains — knowing how to respond can keep you stable until help arrives.

2. CPR
If someone collapses with no pulse or breath, you knowing CPR could keep them alive.

3. Trauma & Bleeding Control
Learn how to stop severe bleeding, use a tourniquet, and treat shock — minutes matter.

4. Water Safety
Drowning can happen in seconds. Know how to swim, rescue, and react fast.

5. Shelter Building
No tent? No problem. Learn to build simple shelters with natural materials to protect from cold, rain or sun.

6. Making Fire
Warmth, cooking, signalling, comfort. Know how to start and maintain a fire — even in wet conditions.

7. Foraging & Hunting
Not all wild food is safe. Learn basic edible plants, tracking and traps — nature provides, if you know how to use it.

8. Water Purification
You can’t survive long without clean water. Learn how to purify it with boiling, filters, or even DIY tricks.

9. Navigation Without GPS
Maps and compasses still matter. Tech fails — your brain and basic skills shouldn’t.

10. Signalling for Help
From mirrors and fire to ground signals and SOS signs, know how to get noticed and rescued.

11. Knot Tying
An underrated lifesaver. Knots help you build, secure, climb, carry, fish, trap — and stay alive.

Why bother?
Because survival isn't about panic — it’s about preparation. You don’t need to be a Navy SEAL to know the basics… but you might need those basics one day.

📚 Homeschooling vs Public School: Why More Parents Are Choosing Freedom in Education 🏠

Public schools are built on one-size-fits-all systems. Homeschooling, on the other hand, gives families the freedom to design an education that truly fits their child.

✅ Personalized learning at your child’s pace
✅ A safe, supportive environment free from bullying
✅ Flexibility to travel, explore, and make real-world learning part of daily life
✅ Stronger family bonds and shared values
✅ More time to teach critical thinking and life skills instead of endless test prep

Yes, it’s a commitment—but with online resources, support networks, and modern curricula, homeschooling has never been more accessible.

Read a full breakdown here 👉 https://eduww.net/online-education/homeschool-vs-public-school/

Homeschooling isn’t just an alternative—it’s a movement towards freedom, growth, and genuine education. 🌱

We use Wisdom homeschooling which is formed in a way around the Socratic method to build them in their critical thinking skills. The website can be found here.
They use a lot of tools from "Classical Education" to form them based on their environment.

I use a lot of independent resources for my children. I know of homeschooling programs for French, Spanish, culinary skills, and music. Most of these have toddler resources which is AMAZING when starting early.

I am in the process of forming homeschooling curriculum for children based on manners and tying the actions to moral theology. There doesn't seem to be any good moral character forming curriculum out there. I am making the curriculum based on a Montessori approach, rooted in Scripture/ Catechism/ Church teaching references, and using 1800 etiquette manuals to bring back all the manners our generation has forgotten about over the years.
