🔴 Linus Torvalds entrusted the kernel to Claude Code. The result surprised even the skeptics
Linus Torvalds tasked AI developer Claude Code with writing modifications for one of the Linux kernel's most important subsystems and achieved a threefold speed increase in reading small blocks of data in tests. The developer openly acknowledged the neural network's authoritativeness, but cautioned that the experimental code was not yet ready for inclusion in the mainline kernel.
On October 10, the Linux creator released a set of changes to the memory management subsystem. Eight patches were prepared with the help of Claude Code. Torvalds directly indicated that Claude Code wrote the code, the test programs, prepared the analysis of known issues, and the first draft of the description. The developer himself supervised the work and performed the measurements on his own computer.
