It's my experience that most-often these ignorant people don't even know the meaning of the language they use -

Diamonds, lead-sulfide, calcium-fluoride & aluminum salts are all minerals.
There are also radioactive minerals such as uraninite and pitchblende which contain uranium 😂
I would tell Einstein up there to try radioactive minerals and let us know how they taste but I think he's already ate some 😲

Language has meaning & scientific terms are standardized so we can communicate safely
Often I talk to people that have no clue the meaning of the words they're saying, and that's just sad.
