The Pasco County Sheriff's Office said a man brandished a 7-inch butcher knife and was fatally shot by a deputy.

The shooting happened at a shopping center in the 12100 block of Little Road in Hudson.

PCSO said the man, whose identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification, was trespassing at the store, and threatening and yelling at shoppers.

Deputies confronted him at the north end of the shopping center, and he brandished a 7-inch butcher knife, according to the sheriff’s office. PCSO said a deputy, fearing for bystanders’ safety, was “forced to fire” after the man refused six commands to drop the knife.
