It is with deep regret the department announces the passing of retired Firefighter Vincent Piccolino, Ladder 166- who succumbed to his World Trade Center related illness on September 27, 2026.

Piccolino dedicated 15 years of service to his department, choosing a profession built on courage, responsibility, and the promise to stand between danger and the people who needed protection.

Like many firefighters who served during and after the September 11 attacks, his commitment did not end when the immediate crisis was over. The rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center created lasting physical and emotional challenges for thousands of first responders who worked in the aftermath of one of the most devastating days in American history.

Many firefighters, police officers, emergency workers, and volunteers who responded to Ground Zero later developed illnesses connected to their exposure during those operations.

Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of red and blood.🙏🏻
