BREAKING: Former Utah death row inmate Douglas Carter appeared in court to address his potential release more than 40 years after he was convicted of murder.

Carter, who was convicted in the 1985 murder of Eva Olesen, appeared before a Utah County judge on Monday less than a week after prosecutors dropped the death penalty. This was in response to new evidence showing that Carter's DNA did not match the DNA at the crime scene.
