On September 30, 2026, Corporal Connie Locklear will retire from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, NC following 19 years of dedicated and creditable service as a Detention Officer.

Connie’s journey into public safety began with an unexpected turn in life. In 2003, she learned that the restaurant where she worked as a waitress was no longer going to offer breakfast, leaving her without a job. Customers from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office who she served regularly encouraged Connie to apply for a position at the Davidson County Detention Center, telling her they were hiring. Taking a leap of faith, Connie applied and began a career that would span nearly two decades.
