NEW: Three people, including two police officers, have been hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting in Lakeville, Massachusetts.

Lakeville police shot a man Saturday afternoon while responding to a report of a disturbed person who may be under the influence and armed with a firearm, Police Chief Matthew Perkins said in a statement.

The shooting occurred during a response to a residence on Heritage Hill Drive Saturday, Sept. 26, the statement said.

Two Lakeville police officers were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for their recovery🙏🏻

We still do NOT know how the officers were injured. No additional information was immediately available Saturday afternoon.
