NEW: Two Portland police officers were injured during a coordinated camp clean-up after a man assaulted them before hurting himself on Thursday, officers say.

Officers from the Portland Police Bureau’s Central Precinct Neighborhood Response Team went to Northwest Flanders Street and Northwest 5th Avenue to work with partners, like Portland Solutions, on a camp clean up effort.

Officers say that a man who was living in a camp they were cleaning up became combative and assaulted two PPB officers.

The man was taken into custody, and the officers were taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for their recovery🙏🏻
