Retired Officer, Thomas Vanderhorst sadly passed away on September 15, 2026. Tom was a dedicated member of the Sylvania Township Police Department, Ohio, from February 1998 until his retirement in March 2022. Before becoming a member of the Sylvania Township Police Department, Tom worked as a police officer for the Village of Waterville. Tom had a combined 33 years in law enforcement. Tom served in various roles throughout his career, including many years working as a road patrol officer, a detective, and as a Field Training Officer responsible for training new officers. He will be remembered as a well-respected mentor to many officers, a wonderful friend to others, and someone who was always devoted to his family. Our sincere condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
