It is with great sadness that Springfield Police Department, Illinois, shares the passing of Officer Steven Baker.

"Officer Baker was a valued member of the SPD family who dedicated his career to serving our community.

Beyond the badge, Officer Baker was a friend, colleague, and member of our law enforcement family. The loss of our brother is felt deeply throughout our department.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Baker’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him."

Rest Easy Brother. Prayers for his family of blue and blood.🙏🏻
