The Story:
My first impression of Tashkent was formed by these traditional big heavily decorated metal gates of local private homes. Beautiful art combined with exaggerated safety. In Uzbekistan people build a tall fence around the perimeter of their land, and build a house around the courtyard. The gates are for the cars and people to get inside this fortress. I thought that this sounds cool because of how safe this is for the family, but this also means no accidental interception with your neighbors or anyone who isn’t directly invited. Maybe this works when you have a giant family.
