🏫 Aarhus University invites applications for a PHD POSITION in QUANTUM OPTOMECHANICS AND GAS SENSING at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University.

🔎 The project aims to realize, investigate, and apply ULTRASENSITIVE OPTOMECHANICAL INSTRUMENTS for GAS SENSING and QUANTUM OPTOMECHANICS. It builds on recent progress in the design, fabrication, and application of NANOSTRUCTURED SILICON NITRIDE THIN FILMS.

📋 RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS
✦ Nanofabrication in the local iNANO cleanroom
✦ Optical techniques such as interferometry
✦ Simulation of optical and mechanical properties using finite element methods
✦ Nanodrum microcavities and nano-guitars for sensing and radiation-pressure studies

🗂 The position is ideal for candidates with a background in PHYSICS, NANOSCIENCE, or ENGINEERING. Experience with OPTICS, PHOTONICS, or NANOFABRICATION is a plus.

📝 چکیده:
تنش هابل یکی از مهم‌ترین چالش‌های کیهان‌شناسی امروز است و به اختلاف میان نتایج دو روش مستقل برای اندازه‌گیری نرخ انبساط جهان اشاره دارد. با وجود افزایش دقت رصدها، این اختلاف همچنان پابرجاست و می‌تواند نشان‌دهنده خطاهای پنهان در اندازه‌گیری‌ها یا حتی وجود فیزیکی فراتر از مدل استاندارد کیهان‌شناسی باشد. در این سخنرانی، ابتدا روش‌های اصلی اندازه‌گیری ثابت هابل معرفی می‌شوند، سپس مهم‌ترین فرضیه‌های مطرح برای توضیح این تنش، از جمله انرژی تاریک اولیه، اصلاح مدل‌های کیهان‌شناختی و بازنگری در فاصله‌سنجی کیهانی، بررسی خواهند شد. در پایان نیز چشم‌انداز پژوهش‌های آینده و اهمیت این مسئله در درک تاریخچه و سرنوشت جهان مرور می‌شود.

🔎 We're inviting academics at UK universities to collaborate with the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) to develop ambitious PhD research projects that will train the next generation of quantum computing researchers.

📝 For the third cohort, 6 fully funded doctoral studentships are available, supported through EPSRC's Industrial Doctoral Landscape Awards (IDLA) programme. Shortlisted EOIs will be developed into full proposals in collaboration with an NQCC co-supervisor to work on collaborative quantum computing projects jointly developed by the NQCC and UK university partners.
