🎓
PhD Opportunities in Theoretical Quantum Optics & Quantum Information🏫 Niels Bohr Institute | University of Copenhagen
⚛ The Niels Bohr Institute (University of Copenhagen) is inviting applications for two PhD fellowships in Theoretical Quantum Optics and Quantum Information.
📌 This is an opportunity to work at the frontier of quantum science within the theoretical quantum optics group and the Center for Hybrid Quantum Networks (Hy-Q).
🗓 Start Date: 1 September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
🔹 Project 1: Quantum Internet Technology
Part of the Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) — a major European initiative aiming to build the world’s first quantum internet prototype within the duration of the PhD.
The successful candidate will:
• Develop physical models of the emerging quantum network
• Predict and optimize system performance
• Contribute to theoretical frameworks for quantum internet technologies
🔹 Project 2: Scalable Quantum Information Processing with Quantum Dots
This project focuses on quantum dots strongly coupled to light.
📝 You will:
• Develop theoretical proposals for near-term experiments
• Design long-term architectures for scalable quantum processors
• Collaborate with experimental teams at
◇ Niels Bohr Institute
◇ Ruhr-Universität Bochum
◇ University of Basel
🔎 If you have a strong background in physics and a serious interest in quantum information theory, quantum optics, or quantum networks, this is a high-impact opportunity in Europe’s leading quantum ecosystem.
