This position is also associated with NeuroWare - the UK Innovation & Knowledge Centre in Neuromorphic Computing. This position offers a unique opportunity to perform cutting-edge research at the intersection of #photonics, #neuromorphic technologies, and #AI.

🔬 About the PhD Project
📌 Title: Neuromorphic Technologies using Photonic Integrated Systems
This project targets breakthroughs in next‑generation neuromorphic photonic integrated platforms. You will explore and develop:
Neuromorphic Photonic Integrated Systems capable of high-speed optical spiking operation
Chip‑scale Photonic Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) for processing and sensing functionalities
Training algorithms for real‑time complex tasks (dataset classification, pattern-recognition, etc.)

📝 Eligibility
To enter our PhD programme you require a first or an upper-second class BSc Honours degree, or a Masters qualification of equal or higher standard, in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline. Full funding, covering fees and stipend, is available for applicants who are UK Nationals (meeting residency requirements) or have settled status (meeting residency requirements), pre-settled status or otherwise have indefinite leave to remain or enter in the UK.
