Assume that raindrops are perfectly spherical and that the index of refraction of water is .

1. Show that the angular position of the primary rainbow is approximately above the line from the Sun to the observer.


2. If a double rainbow is observed, what is the angular position of the secondary rainbow?


3. Even triple rainbows are theoretically possible, although they are very difficult to observe.
Where would the third rainbow appear relative to the Sun and the observer?

فرض کنید قطرات باران کاملاً کروی هستند و ضریب شکست آب برابر است.

1. نشان دهید که مکان زاویه‌ای رنگین‌کمان اولیه تقریباً بالاتر از خط واصل خورشید و ناظر قرار دارد.

2. اگر رنگین‌کمان ثانویه (دوگانه) دیده شود، زاویه‌ی رنگین‌کمان دوم چقدر است؟

3. حتی رنگین‌کمان‌های مرتبهٔ سوم نیز از نظر نظری ممکن‌اند، هرچند مشاهده‌ی آن‌ها بسیار دشوار است.
