📢 France – PhD Position in Structural Bioinformatics at CNRS
🏛 University: CNRS - National Center for Scientific Research
🌍 Country: France
🎓 Fields:
Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, Biophysics
Are you passionate about unraveling the molecular mechanisms that drive bacterial behavior, and eager to harness cutting-edge computational tools to answer fundamental biological questions? If you aspire to contribute to impactful research at the interface of structural bioinformatics and microbiology, this PhD position at the CNRS in France may be the ideal next step for your academic journey.
The focus of this PhD position is the structural bioinformatics modeling of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) involved in bacterial predation, specifically within the context of the PREBACTOR project (ANR 2026). The project aims to elucidate how Myxococcus xanthus—a predatory bacterium central to soil ecosystems—deploys complex molecular machinery to interact with and prey on other bacteria. By constructing a comprehensive PPI network between the Kil and T3SS systems using advanced neural network-based structural prediction models, the research seeks to map critical intra- and inter-complex interactions that underpin contact-dependent predation. Understanding these molecular mechanisms is not only significant for basic biological knowledge but may also have far-reaching implications for biotechnology, ecology, and the development of novel antimicrobial strategies.
