The focus of this PhD project is the synthesis of enantioenriched heterocycles via the insertion of carbon atoms bearing a stereogenic center or axis, using asymmetric catalysis. Enantioenriched heterocycles are fundamental building blocks in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and advanced materials. Developing efficient and selective catalytic methods for their synthesis addresses critical challenges in modern chemistry, including sustainability, atom economy, and the creation of complex molecular architectures. This research has the potential to impact drug discovery, green chemistry, and materials science, positioning graduates at the forefront of innovation in organic synthesis.
