This PhD project focuses on the biophysical mechanisms driving the rapid three-dimensional reconfiguration of tissue during Drosophila head eversion. In the fruit fly, approximately 12 hours after the pupa forms, the head rapidly transitions from inside to outside the body in a matter of seconds. While this process is visually dramatic, the precise interplay between internal pressure, muscle activity, and tissue mechanics remains largely unexplored.
