🌍 Country: Germany

🎓 Fields:
human geography, social sciences, applied ethics, economics, sustainability science, psychology

Are you passionate about exploring how justice and fairness intersect with sustainability transformations in rural communities? Do you seek to contribute original research that informs policy and practice in addressing the social impacts of environmental change? If so, the University of Vechta’s doctoral college on “Justice Dimensions of Sustainability-Oriented Transformation Processes in Rural Areas” offers an exceptional opportunity to advance your academic career.

The doctoral college addresses a critical and timely issue: the justice dimensions of sustainability-oriented transformation processes, with a particular emphasis on rural areas. As societies worldwide undergo transitions toward more sustainable models—whether in energy, agriculture, or community development—these changes often have uneven impacts. Not all affected groups perceive these transformations as positive, leading to new forms of inequality and “transformation pains.”
