“Treatable” Means Treatable Early, With a Drug That Still Works
Pneumonic plague responds to oral doxycycline, oral Cipro, IV aminoglycosides. So a rapid death demands an explanation — and TWO ORDINARY ONES come before any extraordinary one: the patient presented too late for treatment to take hold, or THE ORGANISM WAS RESISTANT to what was given. Antibiotic resistance is a documented global problem, not a hypothetical. It’s why “treatable” always carries conditions.
