💻 A New Virus Has a 1-in-6 Chance to Wipe PC from Iran or Israel

A newly discovered virus runs a script which has a 1-in-6 chance of completely wiping systems detected as being in Israel or Iran, while deliberately ignoring machines with Russian-language environments.

Hackers injected malicious code into dozens of open-source repositories, including Mistral AI's Python library and over 150 other packages.

As soon as a developer includes an infected library in their project or updates dependencies, the virus activates and silently steals secret tokens and access keys to cloud infrastructure.
